The Great Pacific Garbage Patch

About I year ago I first learned about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Basically, it's a great big "gyre of marine litter" located in the northern Pacific. Now, when you say "marine litter," you might be thinking of dead fish, seaweed, etc. No - we're talking everything that people throw away into the ocean: tires, plastic bottles, etc. It's twice the size of Texas.

People, this is a great example of the cumulative effect of throwing your trash where it doesn't belong. We can't keep living like this.
